We are so excited to have Todd DuBord as our speaker for Triple L on April 16th!
Todd DuBord Bio:

Todd A. DuBord was raised in the Bay Area of Northern California, in an atheist and agnostic background. As a young adult, he sensed that there was much more to life than he had been led to believe. In his quest for truth and meaning, Todd sought out the various opinions for the truths and purposes of life, searching in arenas from the sciences to the world religions.

In his years of research, both informal and formal (B.A. From Bethany University; M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary), Todd accepted that the claims of Christianity were true, while maintaining a respect for other creeds and confessions. Todd’s areas of expertise are in apologetics, historical and ecclesiastical theology, biblical languages and canonicity, American religious history, leadership equipping and training, and pastoral care and counseling.

Todd has served in areas of prison and homeless ministries, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, and various discipleship programs and church leadership roles. Through graduate school, Todd served as overseer of a thirteen-facility retirement home and convalescent hospital ministry, as well as a chaplain intern at U.C. Medical Center in Los Angeles and a community outreach intern at Lake Avenue Congregational Church in Pasadena, Ca.

Chaplain Todd served as a youth pastor (of a Foursquare Church) in the 1980′s, an Assistant Pastor (of a Presbyterian Church) in the 1990′s, and the past 12 years he served as Senior Pastor of Lake Almanor Community Church, located near Lake Almanor on the edge of the Lassen National Forest in Northern California.

Over the past five years, Chaplain Todd has gained national recognition in his work to restore Christian revisionism and reductionism from American historic sites and landmarks. He has successfully led restorations of our Christian heritage at the Jamestown Settlement (first English colony in America) and the Washington Monument (discoveries that were broadcasted LIVE on FOX News and other news agencies across the country though the National Park Service response located on Snopes never explains why the sign was changed to eliminate any explanation of the inscription LAUS DEO or “Praise be to God”).

Todd continues to march against revisionism at various places, including the new Capitol Visitors Center, Monticello (Thomas Jefferson’s estate), the U.S. Supreme Court, and other historic landmarks that are revising America’s religious history. A few of his revisionist stories are contained within Chuck Norris’ latest New York Times best seller, “Black Belt Patriotism,” for which Todd also served as Mr. Norris’ research assistant. All of Todd’s stories and revisionist research materials can be found here at www.NationalTreasures.org

As Mr. Norris’ pastor, Todd accompanied Chuck to Iraq in September of 2007, where they visited 15 military bases and over 18,000 troops.

In April 2008, Todd accepted the invitation from Chuck and Gena Norris to join them full time in serving the diversity of their humanitarian and Christian endeavors as the Chaplain of Top Kick Productions (and other Chuck Norris enterprises).

As a speaker and writer, Todd is an inspiring educator and motivator, using a blend of information, historical quotes, visuals, and contagious humor. Many of his past message series (given as Senior Pastor of Lake Almanor Community Church) and present messages (given at various places around the country) are contained on his website as well. Some of his series include “Reasons to Believe,” “The Lord’s Prayer,” “Seven Pillars of Health,” “Facing Your Giants,” “The Mystery of Marriage,” “The Passion of the Christ,” etc.

Chaplain Todd speaks across the nation to groups and churches in a variety of service, seminar and retreat settings. Through his website, live messages and collaborations with Mr. Norris, Todd has inspired countless Americans to fight for our country’s Christian heritage, by sharing the stories in which he and his California rural church led revisionist corrections at places like the Washington Monument and the Jamestown Settlement.

In addition to his single speech settings on religious revisionism, he gives one-day and three-day seminars on defending the historic faith, leadership equipping and a variety of series–one of the most popular of which is his Lord’s Prayer series and unique approach to help others practice it daily via the acronym L.O.R.D.S. P.R.A.Y.E.R.

To relax, Todd enjoys a good cup of coffee, reading, gardening, exercising, walking his dogs, fishing, and just enjoying the outdoors. Todd is married to his best friend, Tracy, with whom he has enjoyed 26 years of marriage. They have two adult children. Todd and Tracy now reside in Texas.

(April Message in the Grapevine)

Paul was single-minded in the message he preached. The cross was not only his primary subject; it was also his motivation for living. When we begin to understand all that Jesus did for us at Calvary, we, too, can receive fresh motivation to live for Him. For instance, we can . . .

Walk humbly before God. Since the power to live the Christian life is supplied by Christ, there is no room for pride. When Jesus died, our “flesh” nature was crucified with Him so that we could live in newness of life. Any success we achieve in living righteously or walking in obedience is possible only because He is working through us.

Serve the Lord faithfully. At the cross, we were placed “in Christ,” and He is in us (Gal. 2:20). We are now His body on earth, created for good works which God has prepared for us to do (Eph. 2:10). Jesus wasn’t crucified so we could sit in pews each Sunday and listen to sermons. He has specific tasks for each of us to achieve during our lifetime.

Share our faith. Knowing all that Jesus accomplished at the cross should motivate us to share the gospel with others. This world is filled with hurting people who know nothing about salvation. Since their eternal destiny is at stake, how can we keep our mouths closed?

Too often we view the cross only as a past event that secured our eternal destiny, and we fail to see how it can and should motivate daily choices and activities. Stop to contemplate all that God is continually accomplishing in you through the cross. Let it be your motivation to live wholeheartedly for Christ. A Daily Devotional

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

HAPPY EASTER — CHRIST IS RISEN!

(March Message in the Grapevine)

Many years ago, a small Jewish boy asked his father, “Why must we surrender our Jewish faith & start to attend Lutheran services here in Germany?” The boy’s father replied, “Son, we must abandon our faith so that people will accept us & support our business adventures!”

That young boy held on to his disappointment & bitterness for the rest of his life because his family abandoned their faith. His faith in both his father & religion were crushed. When this boy left Germany, he went to England to study, & he formed unique philosophies for his own life. From those theories, that boy, Karl Marx, wrote a book that changed the world, The Communist Manifesto. For 70 years, billions of people fell under the spell of his Marxist ideology. The hypocritical influence of that little boy’s father produced tragic consequences.

If the young people of our world do not receive godly faith & training from older believers, then they will develop distorted perspectives as well. As a believer, you & I have the responsibility of spiritually parenting others to follow Christ, serve Him faithfully, & do great things for His Kingdom.

Paul referred to Titus as “my true son in our common faith” (Titus 1:4) & Timothy as “my true son in the faith” (1 Tim.1:2). Though they were not flesh & blood, they bonded together as family & Paul raised them up to follow the Lord.

If you know a young person who needs a faith-filled believer in his or her life, then pray with & for them, & seek to teach them a love for Scripture, a commitment to Jesus Christ, & to fellowship & worship with the church. Ask the Lord to bring a young person into your life whom you can spiritually mentor & parent. Senior Living Ministry Devotionals

Psalm 71:17-18 “Since my youth, God, you have taught me, & to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. Even when I am old & gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.”

(February Message in the Grapevine)

Most of us are quick to declare our love for God, but at times our reluctance to serve Him tells a different story. Honestly consider whether you have ever found yourself saying or thinking, I love you, Lord, but don’t call me to do that! Or perhaps you served Him, but with a flawed attitude: If no one else will do it, then I guess I will. What causes us to be reluctant servants?

Busyness: Sometimes our schedules are so full that there’s no space to follow the Lord when we hear Him calling us to minister in a certain area. We all need “margins” in our lives if we want to abide in God’s will.

Inadequacy: Perhaps you feel unqualified to serve, and you’re thinking, Surely there’s someone more gifted who could do that job. But that’s just an excuse; the Lord promises to equip those He calls (2 Cor. 3:4-6)

Selfishness: Sacrificial service is never convenient. It may require that we change our plans, give up our comforts, or even make financial sacrifices.

Lack of love: This is the hardest for us to admit—that we just don’t care enough. Our reluctance to serve others reveals a lack of devotion to the Lord. Those who love Christ with all their heart will joyfully serve Him by ministering to those in their families, workplaces, communities, and churches.

HEBREWS 6:10-12 “For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints. And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

Are you quick to follow the Lord’s leading when a need arises, or are you a reluctant servant who’s preoccupied with your own plans and desires? How we love & serve others reflects our love for the Lord. Who needs your love today? Any service we offer in Jesus’ name will not be in vain. You’ll experience the joy of giving and the assurance that the Lord won’t forget your sacrifice.

Happy New Year to all of our wonderful Senior Adults! We ran across the following beatitudes & were convicted so wanted to share them with you as you begin this new year as a Christian & fellow member of Central’s church family!

DEVIL’S BEATITUDES

1. Blessed are those who are too tired, too busy, too distracted to spend 2 hours once a week with their fellow Christians – they are my best workers.

2. Blessed are those Christians who wait to be asked & expect to be thanked – I can use them.

3. Blessed are the touchy who stop going to church – they are my missionaries.

4. Blessed are the troublemakers – they shall be called my children.

5. Blessed are the complainers – I’m all ears to them.

6. Blessed are those who are bored with the minister’s mannerisms & mistakes – for they get nothing out of his sermons.

7. Blessed is the church member who expects to be invited to his own church – for he is a p art of the problem instead of the solution.

8. Blessed are those who gossip – for they shall cause strife & divisions that please me.

9. Blessed are those who are easily offended – for they will soon get angry & quit.

10. Blessed are those who do not give their offering to carry on God’s work – for they are my helpers.

11. Blessed is he who professes to love God but hates his brother & sister – for he shall be with me forever.

12. Blessed are you who, when you read this think it is about other people & not yourself – I’ve got you too!

1 Peter 4:8-12…Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing, For “He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil & do good; Let him seek peace & pursue it, For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

1 Peter 5:8…Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

What kind of church members are we? Do we succumb to satan’s ways OR do we bring honor to our Lord & set Christlike examples for the younger generations? May glorifying God in ALL things be our top priority in 2012!
